It was recognised that the families of asylum seekers, refugees and economic migrants with children, required further support in accessing education within Kirklees.
The team will support children, young people and families who are international new arrivals into Kirklees and specifically into education. The families the team would support include, asylum seekers, economic migrants, and families with refugee status
The INAT support is a free service that is available to all schools/academies in Kirklees however allocation is dependent on the capacity of the team at the time of referral.
Integration support includes; preparation for school at the family home prior to allocation of identified school place, applying for free school meals, arranging school uniform from the uniform exchange, support with independent travel, providing support from the first day of school and further sessions alongside the schools integration plan.
